Pilates Reformer is a great complement for any sports. Golf, running, gymnastics, you name it. It also increases mental focus and body awareness crucial in all sports and movement disciplines

It targets deep abdominal, pelvic and gluteal muscles

and it’s a great tool to unwind and ease lower back pain. It helps regulate breathing and developing mindful techniques. All of those bits and pieces so important during pregnancy and beyond!

and this is vital to say injury-free. In Pilates, we work together teaching you individual skills to prepare your body for your unique lifestyle focusing on your individual needs.

What is Reformer?

Reformer Pilates was a favourite form of exercise for dancers in New York in the 1930s. Almost a century later it is still a go-to for premium body conditioning, recommended by GPs and Physios.

Essentially it is Pilates but with an added rhythm, a bit of glamour and a big piece of kit to assist your flow of movement. The reformer itself is a platform or bed that moves. The carriage is attached to a frame by 5 springs with different tensions.

Contrary to its appearance, the Reformer is actually surprisingly pleasant to perform exercises with the support of the springs. And if you like to challenge yourself, on the reformer you can add resistance to mat exercises by adjusting the springs accordingly.

A low-impact exercise, it strengthens and tones muscles, enhances flexibility and balance while engaging in a mind-body practice. You become empowered from the inside and that’s why you feel revitalised after a workout.

Rehab and Sports Injuries

Reformers and Pilates equipment are recognized by physiotherapists worldwide as a very valuable asset to recovery from injuries.

b-Well Pilates is a fully-equipped studio in Balbriggan, Co Dublin offering the Trapeze Table (Cadillac) the Wunda Chair and the Ladder and 5 Reformers – making it the only one of its kind in the area.

Here we know life happens and injuries of all sorts happen. My introduction to Pilates was because I developed a repetitive injury. Now as a Pilates teacher of many modalities I specialise in sports injuries, injury prevention and enhancing peak sports performance. A qualified Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) Pilates Equipment teacher, I see every day the power of this method in helping all kind of bodies with all kinds of injuries to heal – to transit from a recovery state to fully functioning.

In the studio, we like to keep Rehabilitation, otherwise known as our Phoenix Classes small with a max of 3 people. This way we work closely together with your physio or GP on a program tailored to your needs.
