WELCOME TO b-WELL PILATES

Welcome to b-Well Pilates.
I’m glad you stopped by.
While the new website is in creation, I’m posting a little something about me and my studio in Balbriggan, Co Dublin.
I’m Raquel Mendez. Originally from Argentina I settled in Ireland almost 20 years ago with my husband. I’m now a mum of two young boys living locally.
Having worked in the corporate sector for many years, I discovered Pilates and its magical powers about 10 years ago and I have been passionate about it ever since.
For the uninitiated, Pilates is a mindful practice that connects body, mind and breath in a low-impact but powerful workout that builds core strength and flexibility.
What’s not to love! So happy about the transformation within me from my Pilates practice I wanted to share it with everybody.
One training and qualification led to another as I worked with more and more people and I wanted to be able to support every body in its individual and unique journey.
I’ve trained with some really amazing schools of Pilates such us APPI (Australian Association of Physiotherapist & Pilates) in London, I did my Pre-Postnatal training with BASI and I’m of course a fully qualified Pilates Mat-Reformer & Equipment instructor. Not many people know but I’m also a Yoga teacher and I usually combine my skills to turn your Pilates session into a very enjoyable experience. I don’t like boring people with certifications and courses but you are welcome to ask or find more about me on the social channels.

Best part is I LOVE what I do and find pleasure and joy teaching my daily classes.

My focus is on assisting you to feel well from the moment you arrive at the studio, during your practice and beyond.

So wherever you are at on your Wellbeing journey, I’m here to encourage and support you to move better, feel better and live better in that beautiful body of yours.

What is Reformer?

Studio Details (4)

Reformer Pilates was a favourite form of exercise for dancers in New York in the 1930s. Almost a century later it is still a go-to for premium body conditioning, recommended by GPs and Physios.

Essentially it is Pilates but with an added rhythm, a bit of glamour and big piece of kit to assist your flow of movement. The reformer itself is a platform or bed that moves. The carriage is attached to a frame by 5 springs with different tensions.

Contrary to its appearance, the Reformer is actually surprisingly pleasant to perform exercises with the support of the springs. And if you like to challenge yourself, on the reformer you can add resistance to mat exercises by adjusting the springs accordingly.

The principles of breathing, centring, alignment and building core strength central to Pilates are at the heart of Reformer Pilates too.

A low-impact exercise, it strengthens and tones muscles, enhances flexibility and balance while engaging in a mind-body practice. You become empowered from the inside and that’s why you feel revitalised after a workout.

The Studio

My new studio is designed to be a space to empower your best you through movement. It is spacious, fully equiped with 5 Pilates Reformers, a Cadallac trapeze table, a Wunda chair and Ladder Barrel and is completely Covid-19 guidelines compliant.

Parking outside is free.

To ensure personal attention I keep classes small. I offer one-to-one personal sessions, small groups of up to 4 and a maximum of 5 in mat classes.
